Financial Planner - Geelong West

An exciting opportunity exists for a Financial Planner to join our Wealth team at our Geelong West Branch. Reporting to the Practice Manager,  your role will draw on your strong experience and existing knowledge of financial planning concepts to provide advice and services that assist our customers to achieve their lifestyle and business expectations. The primary focus of the role is to provide a high level of service and wealth creation for the clients of our Retail Banking Partners.

As well as a hands-on approach and relevant experience, you will need as a minimum a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) or equivalent, demonstrated experience in the construction of Statements of Advice and a proven capability in using financial planning software, in particular XPLAN.  This role will also require the flexibility at time to meet customer needs which may include travel and occasional weekend work. 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Source new and service existing customers from Bank referral sources.
  • To provide tailored financial planning advice to new and existing customers (Risk Protection and Investments – Managed funds, Superannuation, Bonds, Mortgage Funds etc)
  • Conduct needs based customer interviews and provide solutions and recommendations based on customer need and objectives (In line with FPA, ASIC and Bank philosophies and intent)
  • To work with Branch, Business Bankers and region to gain confidence in referring new and existing customers by providing coaching, training and feedback to all staff on identifying potential introductions/appointments
  • Adherence to compliance requirements and industry best practice
  • Adherence to all Retail and Wealth Solutions (Dealership) business and customer guidelines e.g. Segmentation, service offering, fee structure, platform, customer service process
  • Maintenance of yearly mandated professional education requirements
  • Ongoing self development by keeping up to date and thorough knowledge of technical aspects of providing financial planning advice
  • Ability to work with the Region in relevant Community Engagement activities

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

Experience required:

  • Previous strong experience as a Financial Planner with particular experience with Refer Wealth Solutions- Dealership including Deposit, Non-Cash Payment - External Products from Authorised Product List
  • Commitment to achieving CFP status.
  • Experience in preparing, reviewing and modelling plans using financial planning software.
  • Demonstrated experience in the construction of Statements of Advice 
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching/training to referral sources
  • Ability to build customer relationships and to build internal and external relationships, including an ability to engage your local community

  Qualifications:

  • Tier 1 and PS146 Compliant
  • Minimum Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) or equivalent
  • Preferred Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) or equivalent (must be obtained within 12 months of commencement)
  • SMSF, Margin Lending, Direct Share Advice Accreditation
